Indexable Milling Cutters for Semi Finishing of 3D Surfaces

Stephen Eckersall, group engineering manager in the U.K. for toolholder maker Nikken, recently shot this video to capture the sound—or the lack of sound—of heavy milling passes in titanium using newly developed tooling. Specifically, this video tungsten carbide inserts shows the combination of a new toolholder design from Nikken and a new end mill for titanium from Technicut.

Technicut brought Nikken in on the development of its new high-metal-removal-rate tool for titanium, because the cutting tool maker was seeing minute axial sliding of the tool within various toolholders from high cutting SEER Insert force. Nikken’s response to this problem was a new toolholder design able to restrain the cutter against this movement. Read more about the resulting tool and toolholder combination.

The video, which was shot at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in the U.K., illustrates how quietly the new tool and toolholder perform together. Mr. Eckersall provides these details:

The Power of PCD Inserts in Advanced Machining

With the popularity of CNC machines, the application of carbide inserts has increased significantly ,Turning insert is one of the most widely used tools in cutting area.

The selection of turning inserts depends on several parameters:

The SEMT Insert Application, the workpiece hardness ,Machine stability, workpiece clamping stability, are important factors for turning tools selection.

When selecting the geometry of insert :

For finishing and semi-finishing machining, use positive inserts with a small corner radius of 0.2 or 0.4mm.

For continuous medium cutting, use a negative insert with an average corner radius of 0.8 to 1.0mm.

In case of an interrupted cut or higher depth of cut, increase the corner radius in order to strengthen the cutting edge.

In case of unstable conditions such as low clamping stability, machining with low power consumption, or machining parts with a high overhang, use a positive insert with a small corner radius to help reduce the cutting forces.

From Raw Material to Precision Cutting: The Production Process of Carbide End Mi

Carbide saw blades are the most commonly used cutting tools for wood product processing, and their quality is closely related to the quality of processed products. The correct and reasonable selection of carbide circular saw blades for wood is of great significance for improving product quality, shortening processing time, and reducing processing costs.

Tungsten carbide circular saw blades include the parameters, such APKT Insert as the saw tips grade, the material of the body, the tooth shape, the angle, the diameter, the number of teeth, the thickness, the bore size, and other parameters. These parameters determine the processing capacity and cutting performance of the saw blade. Today I will share some tips when we choose a tungsten carbide saw blade, the following parameters of the saw blade should be selected correctly according to the needs.

Choose carbide tips grade
Because tungsten-cobalt-based cemented carbide has better impact resistance, it is more widely used in the wood processing industry. The commonly used model in wood processing is YG8-YG15.

Selection of saw blade tooth type
The tooth type of the circular saw blade is divided into left and right teeth, tapered Carbide Milling Insert teeth, flat teeth, trapezoidal teeth, crescent teeth, etc. In actual use, the choice is mainly based on the type of raw material being sawed.
The left and right teeth are suitable for opening and horizontal sawing of various soft and hard materials and particle boards.
Tapered teeth are often used in the slot saw blades of panel saws.
Flat teeth are mainly used for the sawing of ordinary wood. This kind of saw blade has a lower cost but is a rougher saw.
The combination of trapezoidal teeth and flat teeth can also obtain high cutting quality without slotted saw blades, and there will be no veneer cracking during sawing. It is suitable for sawing various double-veneer wood-based panels.

Choice of saw teeth angle
The angle parameter of the saw teeth part is more complicated, and the correct selection of the angle parameter of the saw blade is the key to determining the quality of sawing. The most important angle parameters are rake angle, rear angle, and wedge angle.

The number of saw teeth
Generally speaking, the more teeth, the more cutting edges can be cut per unit of time, and the better the cutting performance. However, the more cutting teeth, the more cemented carbide is needed, and the higher the price of the saw blade. However, the teeth are too dense and the gap between the teeth and The smaller chip capacity will easily cause the saw blade to heat up.

The thickness of the saw blade
In theory, we hope that the thinner the saw blade is, the better, but the sawing is a consumption. The material of the saw blade and the process of manufacturing the saw blade determine the thickness of the saw blade. When choosing the thickness of the saw blade, the stability of the saw blade and the material to be cut should be considered.

Choice of bore size
The bore size is a relatively simple parameter, which is mainly selected according to the requirements of the equipment, but to maintain the stability of the saw blade, it is best to choose a larger bore size for the saw blade above 250mm. Regardless of the size of the hole, it can be modified by a CNC lathe machine or a wire-cutting machine.

The choice of cemented carbide saw blades is related to so many parameters. It seems very complicated. As long as you find a suitable professional supplier, it is easy.

Tungsten Silver Alloy Welding Tips

A typical tungsten alloy EFP (explosively formed penetrators) warhead mainly consists of shaped charge liners, high explosive, shells and initiation system. The shaped charge liners and explosive component are usually fixed by pressure screw.

When the tungsten alloy EFP exploding, the shaped charge liners squeeze, roll over and stretch Carbide Inserts into penetrators whose shape is expected and speed up to 2000m/s under the effect of Chapman-Jouguet pressure. It can damage efficiently to armor target in the range of charge diameter whose bursting height is more than 1000 times. The maximum depth of penetration can reach more than one time charge diameter. So Carbide Milling Inserts it is possible to attack the weakest top of armor vehicle from far (long) distance.
